The Satisfaction of Leaving a Legacy

Rick Greenman

Lyric Opera of Chicago holds a special place in the hearts of many. For Rick Greenman, his connection with Lyric goes beyond being a patron, a donor, and even a Lyric Chapter member. It has evolved into leaving a legacy through a planned gift, which has significantly enhanced his experience at Lyric today.

As a member of the close-knit Chapters community for many years, Rick has a deep appreciation for opera and for the role Lyric plays in his life. Over time, he realized he was in a position to leave a planned gift to Lyric and positively shape Lyric and the community he loves.

Rick was surprised by the impact he felt after formalizing his estate plans to include a legacy gift to Lyric. He shared that the decision not only deepened his connection to the opera house but greatly and profoundly enriched his overall experience at Lyric.

As a new member of the esteemed Ardis Krainik Society—a special group reserved for patrons who have included support for Lyric in their estate plans—Rick found a sense of pride in knowing his planned gift will perpetuate Lyric’s artistic strength for generations to come.

He encourages others who may be indecisive about leaving a gift to Lyric in their will, trust, or IRA to take the leap. Creating an enduring legacy and the satisfaction that comes with it is truly worthwhile—for an individual and for Lyric.
